Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani was born in 1932 in Voghera, Italy. After a scholarship and his training as a fashion designer, he worked for a few years in France, including two years in the studio of Guy Laroche. In 1959 he finally founded his own company. Already in the 60s it gained an extraordinary reputation. The designs were characterized by the highest elegance and a special style. The Haute Couture evening dresses soon moved the stars of the time in their spell, the actress Elisabeth Taylor was one of his first customers. One of his most faithful fans was Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis, who also fell in 1964 for their wedding of him. Soon his fashion culupies were known beyond the national borders and were overflowed with prizes. Garavani was now only Valentino, a name which still has a tremendous luminosity in the fashion world today. A well-known feature of its collections was the use of a deep, intensive rottone, which was later baptized due to the frequent use, Valentino-red. In terms of detail, he devoted his creations, pearl embroidery as well as the use of sequins and lace were further recurring elements in his collections. Also over several company takeovers, Valentino always remained creative head of the company. Already in 1991, a retrospective in the Capitolian Museum in Rome in Rome took place to his work in the fashion world. Only with the year 2008 he moved back from the business. Until the acquisition by an investment company from Qatar existed from 2005 to 2012, the Valentino Fashion Group under its umbrella in the meantime, other well-known brands such as Hugo Boss and Missoni were led.
