Secondhandbags is the first second-hand shop in Switzerland to specialise exclusively in designer handbags. The company was founded by Roman Brawand more than 15 years ago (2006).
The company developed very well and almost four years later the online shop Secondhandbags.ch was launched. This was quite a novelty at the time, and the NZZ, Tagesanzeiger and Blick also reported on the innovative business with second-hand luxury handbags.
In December 2014, a dream came true and the showroom at Stampfenbachstrasse 115 in 8006 Zurich was opened. It proved very popular and was a complete success. In October 2018, we moved to Bäckerstrasse 24 in the vibrant Kreis 4 district. The company now has customers all over the world.
At the beginning of 2020, online retail experienced a huge boost and reached new record highs, partly due to coronavirus. This increase is also at the expense of the retail business. How much of this is a permanent shift remains to be seen in the future. For me, Roman Brawand, however, one thing is clear: "Even if the virus is hopefully a temporary phenomenon, I see the future primarily in online retail."
Quitting at the peak - I have been longing for more time with my children and my family for a long time. That's why I decided to fulfil this need in mid-2020 and looked for a successor and found one in Raphael Rohner.
However, it is not an adieu per se, but an adieu and reunion with new faces and fresh vigour. I will remain loyal to Secondhandbags.ch in my role as strategic advisor. I am overjoyed with the new partners at my side and look forward to the future with excitement.
