Already in 1966, Bottega Veneta was founded by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro in Venice. Das Hauptmerkmal ist das handgeflochtene Leder, das sogenannte Intrecciato. Statt auffälliger Logos setzt die Marke auf sehr zurückhaltendes Design. Man erkennt die Tasche also eher an der Verarbeitung als an einem Schriftzug. Dadurch wirken die Taschen elegant und zeitlos und nicht wie ein kurzlebiger Modetrend.

Zu den bekanntesten gehören die Jodie mit dem geknoteten Henkel, die Cassette mit dem gepolsterten Flechtmuster und die Andiamo mit dem Metallknotenverschluss.

Die meisten Modelle bestehen aus sehr weichem Nappaleder. Dieses Leder fühlt sich besonders geschmeidig an und gehört zu den hochwertigsten Lederarten im Luxussegment.

Innen befindet sich ein sauber geprägter Stempel „Bottega Veneta – Made in Italy“ sowie ein Stofflabel mit Seriennummer. Die Verarbeitung wirkt sehr präzise, besonders beim Flechtmuster.

Bottega Veneta steht für sogenannten „Quiet Luxury“. Der Luxus soll an Material, Form und Verarbeitung erkennbar sein – nicht durch grosse Markenaufschriften. Normalerweise ist deshalb aussen kein Logo sichtbar. Grosse Logos sind eher ein Hinweis auf eine Fälschung.
